The 熊猫在线视频 Orchestra will perform with the student winners of the college鈥檚 annual Concerto-Aria Competition on Friday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The winners of this year鈥檚 competition who will be performing are: Bethany Dame, organ; Leah Reinardy, Marimba; and Peter Ruffolo, piano. The pieces include Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky鈥檚 鈥淪elections from Swan Lake,鈥 Alexandre Guilmant鈥檚 鈥淪ymphony No. 1, Op. 42,鈥 Ney Rosauro鈥檚 鈥淢arimba Concerto No. 1鈥 and Ludwig van Beethoven鈥檚 鈥淧iano Concerto No. 3.鈥
The orchestra is directed by Daniel Brier, who is the music director and principal conductor of Opera Wilmington and visiting assistant professor of music at Hope. Previously, he served the Kalamazoo Symphony orchestra as interim music director (2017-18), resident conductor (2016-17, 2018-22) and assistant conductor (2014-16). Recent and upcoming conducting engagements include the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Adrian Symphony, Whiting Park Symphony Orchestra and St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic. He has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Bobby McFerrin, Pablo Sainz Villegas, Rachel Barton Pine, Jennifer Frautschi and more.
