For more than 50 years, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre (HSRT, now referred to as Hope Repertory Theatre) has been a West Michigan premier professional theatre company.
Former theater directors Mary Schakel, David Colacci and John Tammi are co-creating a book telling the story of Hope Rep鈥檚 first half century鈥攁nd they are seeking help from those who鈥檝e been involved over the decades.
鈥淭he Hope summer theatre programs have touched the lives of thousands of people, many in ways we may not know,鈥 said Tammi, founding artistic director. 鈥淎n important part of the book we鈥檙e creating will be the stories of those who have been involved over the decades. This includes company members, of course, but also those in our community who supported our efforts as audience members and generous benefactors.鈥
The co-authors are especially interested in stories about the process of putting on a variety of productions 鈥 including those by the Children's Performance Troupe 鈥 and the impact these productions have made on those involved.
Company members, supporters, audiences and participants who wish to contribute their stories, anecdotes, appreciation missives and photographs may email such items to hrst50@hope.edu. The group also considers it important that those no longer able to tell their own stories are well represented. So they鈥檙e asking to hear from anyone who performed or worked with others at the Hope Repertory Theater, or remember them as part of the Holland community for a certain period of time, to send their recollections. Any contributions are asked to be submitted to the above email address no later than January 31, 2026.
